THE TRANSGRESSOR, DIR. VICTORIA DUNCAN

UPCOMING SHORT, PRODUCED APRIL 2016- KICKSTARTER PAGE

In a dystopian world where art is banned, a child spy must choose between following the law and following her heart.

Amanda’s room. Again like the living room, we wanted to go for bleak, serene, and subtly dystopian. We wanted to create the feel of a economically depressed country in which the government propagates a national epic of collective strength. These leads to the child spies scene.

Taking inspiration from totalitarian regimes both past and present, we wanted to create an air of barely perceptible hostility. For these kids the violence exists just below their radar and by the time they’re old enough to grasp the gravity of their task, they are completely indoctrinated.

The patches show rank. Some of these kids are “Eagles”, while the others are not so strong or ruthless, yet.

We had the kids wear uniforms to erase the individuality. These kids aren’t like normal private school kids who all add little personal touches to their uniforms, wear them in a certain way etc. I also created two propaganda posters for the classroom. Two of three decorations for the classroom.

The beach. A serene landscape, bleak but certainly not sterile, this represents the start of the the children’s new life away from the regime.
